Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

This book was amazing. It was super cute, super fun, super drama and an all around good laugh.

I really enjoyed the characters in this. They were totally believable. I felt like I was reading something that might have happened to me in high school That is if I had been a rich kid, went to boarding school, got sent to Paris and found an awesome boy like Etienne. But if those things had happened to me, this soooo would have been my book! haha

This was the best “guilty pleasure” book I have read in a long time. I read it within a day. I couldn’t put it down. Pick up this book!!

Spells by Aprilynne Pike

Its been awhile, I know. I just can’t seem to sit my happy butt down and write. But I’m making myself! I CAN and WILL do this. HAHA!

This is the sequel to Wings. In this story, Laurel has to decide whether she is going to be in the human world or in the faerie world. Tamani or David?

She gets the chance to go to Avalon and study as a Fall Faerie for the summer, but unlike all the other Falls her age, she is way behind in her studies. She enjoys being in Avalon with all of its beauties and wonders, but she also misses her family and friends in the human world.

Once again, the trolls are out to get her and make her tell them where the portal to Avalon is hidden. Along with a new “friend” she must save her friends and fight the trolls on her own without sentries or the help of Tamani.

Who will she choose? And will she stick with that choice?

In my opinion, I kind of hope she goes back to Tamani. TEAM TAMANI!! Yes, she’s been in the human world all her life, but she was born to be a faerie and he loves her so much. Yes, David loves her…but I think he would be much better off with Chelsea. Plus, there’s the whole thing about Laurel living to be 2oo years old. David will be long gone and it would be unfair to Tamani to get her only because David has died. That’s just ridiculous. You can’t have your cake and eat it too!! It just can’t happen!! (haha)

Any Team David’s out there?

City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Vampires, Werewolves, Faeries, Mages, and Angels all in one book. Who could ask for anything more?

I have to be honest, I’ve read so many books in the past year that I have a hard time remembering what happens in all the series that I read. This certainly goes for City of Bones, the first in the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. The one redeeming quality though, is when I read the next book in the series, I remember the past books. When I remember the other books, the more I remember, the better I thought the book was that first time I read it. Saying that, I was ashamed of myself for not remembering more of City of Bones, because it was an excellent book. Once I started reading City of Ashes, I instantly remembered all the characters and plot. I think this is one of the most original novels out there today. It’s hard to say that, because it seems like everything has been already done, but Cassandra Clare has definitely found one more piece of that originality pie.

At the end of the first novel, we learn that Jace and Clary are brother and sister and that their father is Valentine, the “bad guy” in the novels. City of Ashes starts with all that tension that City of Bones left us with. Clary and Jace have to figure out how to be just brother and sister, they have to find out what their father intends to do with two mortal instruments (the mortal cup and the soul sword), and then eventually stop him from his plot to overthrow the Clave.

Even though the idea, to most, of a brother and sister loving each other more than sibling love is pretty disgusting, I find that I am actually rooting them both on. I keep finding myself hoping that somehow they aren’t blood related so that they both can be together. It seems unfair that they can’t be together. I have some predictions or ideas of what could happen in the next book that will allow them to actually be together. I guess here is as good as any place to put those ideas.

One way that I see Jace and Clary being able to be together is that they aren’t really brother and sister. In the book it keeps mentioning that Valentine did things to them to make them better or have special powers. We see that through Jace’s extra strength and Clary’s ability to make new runes and more powerful ones. I almost believe that he might have created Jace and Clary and that their mother was almost like a surrogate. Of course, I’m just speculating, but it’s an idea that kept popping into my head as I was reading.

Another possibility that I had seen throughout the book, is the possibility that Jace or Clary isn’t Valentine’s son/daughter. Jace thought that he was the son of Wayland, but supposedly that son died. Well, what if the wrong son died and they find out he in fact really is that son? All the experiments or whatever that Valentine did on Jace and Clary seem to be done after they were born.

I don’t know that either of these are real possibilities, but I like to think there is hope for Jace and Clary to be together. I know that real life doesn’t hold so many opportunities for a love like that and it seems to be a waste to not be able to have that in this fictional world. At least, that’s what I believe. But that’s just what I want to happen. I don’t think I’ll be disappointed if it doesn’t happen. It’s just one of those things that make you feel all happy a fuzzy inside when someone, be it real or fictional, actually gets some happiness.
