Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Looking for a good werewolf story? Well, this is definitely one of the best I’ve read in a long time! Just don’t let the characters hear you call them werewolves…you might not live to finish the book!

Calla is the heroine and narrator of Nightshade. She is an alpha wolf trying to cope with her new pack and the idea of having to get married on Samhain. All her life she has known that this day would come. She was set to marry Ren, the alpha male of the rival pack and they would form a new pack. What she wasn’t ready for was Shay. He is human, but not afraid of any of the pack members, unlike the rest of the humans. He actually seems to want to challenge Ren for Calla’s attention. He also makes her rethink her role in the pack and her role in life in general.

This sounds like another “Twilight-ish” book, but it’s not. Yes, there is the triangle of “lovers”, but that it the only thing that comes close to being like it.

I really enjoyed this book, because I haven’t read anything like it. Which is saying a lot. I read all the time. I liked the world that Ms. Cremer has set up and I can’t wait to find out everything that will happen in the sequel.

The only bad thing about this book is that the sequel isn’t out yet and I have to wait for it. I want to know!! Gah! Rudeness! Hehe
