Whoever You Are by Mem Fox

Title: Whoever You Are

Author: Mem Fox

Illustrator: Leslie Staub

Publisher: Harcourt Brace & Co

Published Date: 1997

This story is all about people being from all over the world. It talks about having different houses, being different colors, and even speaking different languages. And although all of these things are different; the important things like love, pain, and friendship are universal.

This is great to read to kids very young. It shows them that even though there are so many things that could be different about people, where it matters, they are the same as them. Great mesage.

I have to admit the illustrations were a little creepy. Especially the man in the blue suit. It may just be me. But I loved how the artist captured all the differences in appearance of all the little kids. It says, “look just because I look nothing like you doesn’t mean I don’t have the same feelings.” Like I said earlier great message.

Happy Reading!
